I almost don’t even want to admit how obsessed with this book I am.
First of all, I really almost DNF’d this series after book one. I just wasn’t impressed with Feyre or the world building but THIS MASTERPIECE.
Let’s just get into it. What I liked:
👍 Rhysand. Rhysand. Rhysand. Enough said.
👍 Feyre has become an utter badass. I loved how far the author delved into her trauma, her healing. I think it’s so important as a reader to watch her strength through her grieving. And to see first hand how she uses the power of all seven courts is incredible.
👍 I could not have imagined a better villain than the King of Hybern.
What I didn’t like:
👎 Rhysand’s character shift. So hear me out. The first 500 pages of this book, Rhys was a cunning, strong dark enigma of brooding sexuality which yum. But then… the second he tells Feyre he loves her, he becomes a mushy mess. And I’m all for romance but he’s still High Lord of the Night Court and he’s spent his entire life protecting his people so maybe… I expected more emotion from him at the attack on Velaris and less being ONLY concerned about Feyre’s safety.
👎 WTF was that sudden “You’re my mate” from Lucien to Elain? 🤢 I’ve never read something so forced in by the author last minute.
All in all, cannot WAIT to start the next book.
QOTD: who’s the best male Fae?
